Today the Bed & Breakfast POGGIO DESTO offers the pleasure of a simple but fascinating life and the direct contact with nature.

Where Poggio Desto was born

Leonardo da Vinci e The Montalbano

The hilly area of Montalbano, made famous by the drawings of Leonardo da Vinci where it happens to recognize its profiles, extends for about 16,000 hectares between the provinces of Florence, Prato and Pistoia. Although the territory has been inhabited since prehistoric times and still retains traces of Etruscan settlements and numerous medieval castles, the presence of man has not damaged this beautiful natural environment, Indeed, thanks to the cultivation of vines and olive trees has helped to create a sort of tidy "countryside-garden" typical of the Tuscan landscape.
Today a destination for outdoor tourists, the Montalbano is crossed by a dense network of hiking and cycling paths that allow you to reach the ridge at about 600mt above sea level and to explore every corner of this extraordinary natural area in the heart of Tuscany. For the less adventurous and, above all, for lovers of food and wine, we recommend the Strada dell'olio e del vino del Montalbano "Colline di Leonardo" an itinerary to follow by car or motorbike (signposted with brown road signs)which touches all the municipalities of this territory and suggests valuable ideas for the discovery of the valuable local products.
